We are hiring for a Sanitation Supervisor in our XYZ LOCATION. Reporting to the Plant Manager this role will help to ensure the quality and food safety of our product and maintain the safety of our employees. Maintains a clean plant and works with the production and quality teams on any production or sanitation needs. The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the activities of the plant sanitation and food safety programs. In addition, this role maintains the sanitation and Food Safety procedures, policies, and training.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Develop, maintain, and implement a master cleaning program.
  • Responsible for the sanitation department's chemical usage, wearing of PPE, and safety training.
  • Verify chemical concentration and proper applications for the desired results.
  • Write SSOPs and validate their efficiency
  • Maintains training and safety certifications required by the Company and/or by state or other governmental bodies.
  • Ensures compliance with industry and internal food safety / sanitation standards, as well as USDA & FDA, and other state and local Food Safety regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections prior to production startup to ensure equipment meets conformity to federal and state sanitation laws and plant standards.
  • Trains and instructs employees in sanitation standards, GMPs, SSOPs, company objectives, food safety policies and company policies.
  • Partners with production personnel in developing sanitary procedures, training, and auditing tools.
  • Works with production, maintenance, and other departments to assure appropriate sanitation and Food Safety requirements while maximizing productivity.
  • Directs cleaning of equipment, facilities, grounds and all work areas in conjunction with other departments.
  • Discusses with management and production personnel on sanitation issues and Food Safety; recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards.
  • Collaborates with Quality Assurance and Production to resolve food safety issues.
  • Recommends process improvements, improved equipment design and improved sanitation cleaning procedures to continuously improve sanitation methods.
  • Responsible for being prepared and participating in GSFI audits, external plant audits, and federal and local agency audits and inspections.
  • May order cleaning supplies and chemicals as needed.


Requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum 5 years of Sanitation/Food Safety experience preferably in a Food Production setting or bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work night shift hours.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a sense of urgency in matters of food safety required.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Knowledgeable of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and industry standard cleaning procedures; knowledge of HACCP, allergens and pest control required.
  • Basic knowledge of the function and operation of sanitation equipment and and chemicals is required.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position requires the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with hazardous chemicals and materials, etc.
  • While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over slippery surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as samples and record boxes. This position requires frequent pulling, carrying, and lifting up to 50lbs.
