The Purchasing Analyst II is responsible for the acquisition of manufacturing materials and resources including the purchase of raw materials, fabricated parts, services, tooling, MRO purchases, office supplies, and office equipment along with other tasks as assigned.
This position will serve our HTPG Division, located in Scottsboro, AL.
Responsibilities
Maintain and control the activities related to assigned commodities, contracts, and interface with production and engineering.
Locate and negotiate with efficient and low-cost suppliers for new and current material requirements.
Work directly with suppliers, by submitting prints on new parts, payment on receipts, and corrective actions.
Coordinate buying activities with Material Control, Production Control, Operations, Engineering, and Accounting. Issues purchase orders for materials by determining the best price, quality, delivery, and inventory.
Updates, communicates, and maintains information related to correspondence between suppliers, material control and purchasing.
Maintains and updates information on part numbers, pricing, freight terms, payment terms and addresses.
Maintain safety stock information on inventory purchases by reviewing past and upcoming usage.
Manage assigned inventories, consistent with company investment policy keeping obsolete and dormant inventories to a minimum.
Notify suppliers of discrepancies and ensure corrections are made. Review and cancel contracts when required or necessary.
Develop and manage effective relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
Help define, test, and implement standard purchasing practices.
Assist with training others regarding purchasing activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or equivalent experience
- 3+ years’ experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
- Ability to travel up to 10% for supplier visits, meetings, training, etc.
Equivalent combination of education, experience, and skills may supplement above minimum job requirements.
