Are you an experienced and motivated medical leader ready to shape the future of anaesthetic services in one of Victoria’s most progressive regional health services? Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Director of Anaesthetics to support the leadership of our Anaesthetics Department within the Surgical and Perioperative Services Division.

 

As a senior leader, you will work closely with the Director of Anaesthetics to provide clinical leadership, operational management, and strategic input to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred anaesthetic services. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in service development, workforce sustainability, and the advancement of clinical excellence, teaching, and research across Gippsland.

 

About the Role

The Deputy Director of Anaesthetics supports the Director in providing clinical leadership and operational management of the Anaesthetics Department. This senior role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and contemporary anaesthetic services across the organisation, contributing to workforce planning, education, service development, and clinical governance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership to ensure safe, high-quality anaesthetic care for patients.
  • Lead and manage departmental operations including workforce planning, rostering, and resource allocation.
  • Support the recruitment, supervision, and professional development of medical staff.
  • Contribute to service development, innovation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective and sustainable service delivery.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • MBBS (or equivalent), registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia, and Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA).
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise and leadership within anaesthetics.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and respectful approach.
  • Strong ability to lead change, manage teams, and drive service improvements.
  • A commitment to education, research, and continuous professional development.
