About The Night Ministry

The Night Ministry is a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides housing, health care, and human connection to individuals experiencing homelessness or poverty. As a trusted service provider and advocate, we work to meet people where they are-with dignity, compassion, and urgency.

As Manager, Foundation and Corporate Giving, you will play a key role in advancing our mission by cultivating institutional funders, stewarding relationships, and overseeing the grant and reporting process for a growing portfolio of foundation and corporate partners. You'll be instrumental in helping us secure sustainable revenue that supports our direct service programs and long-term strategic goals.

What You'll Do

You will lead and manage efforts related to foundation and corporate philanthropy-supporting a portfolio that includes foundations, family foundations, corporations, and congregations. Working in partnership with the Advancement team, you'll steward current funders and pursue new funding opportunities to support The Night Ministry's $3.5M+ annual institutional fundraising goal.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and congregational donors-handling relationship cultivation, proposal development, and stewardship.

  • Leading the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with programmatic objectives.

  • Updating proposal boilerplates annually in collaboration with program staff, and maintaining compelling, donor-centered language.

  • Developing and maintaining the institutional funding calendar and reporting deadlines.

  • Facilitating regular internal meetings with Advancement and program teams to identify funding opportunities and needs.

  • Representing The Night Ministry externally with funders and stakeholders as needed.

  • Overseeing the grant reporting process, tracking performance and supporting documentation across departments.

  • Supporting the Director of Development in identifying and advancing opportunities for major gift engagement among institutional partners.

  • Participating in all-staff meetings, department-wide initiatives, and Advancement projects as needed.

  • Supporting the annual report process and helping produce philanthropy-related content.

What We're Looking For

You're a compelling communicator, experienced relationship-builder, and strategic thinker who thrives in mission-driven environments. You bring excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and a clear understanding of institutional fundraising best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Significant experience in foundation and corporate philanthropy with a strong grasp of trends in institutional giving.

  • Proven success in securing funding from foundations and corporate sources.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze financial data and develop or interpret budgets.

  • Skilled at balancing multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Proficiency in donor databases and grants management systems preferred.

Why Work With Us

  • Join a mission-driven team that's expanding access to housing and healthcare across Chicago.

  • Play a key role in securing resources that sustain innovative, people-centered programs.

  • Be part of a collaborative, inclusive culture where your work makes a visible impact.
