Job Description:
I would like to hire Ms. Mamuna Mita as a temporary supporting scientist to complete a couple of remaining studies for collaborating project with USDA-ARS in demonstrating the feasibility of using double stranded RNA (dsRNA) to manage aflatoxin contamination in peanuts. She will conduct kernel screening assays using dried peanuts in pods or shelled peanuts treated with or without various dsRNA before inoculating them with A. flavus. She will extract and quantify aflatoxins from these samples to determine whether samples treated with dsRNA produce significantly less aflatoxin compared to controls. She also will need to demonstrate that the reduced aflatoxin production in the treated samples is associated with concomitant reduction in the target gene expression.
