About the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR)

HLSR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports Texas youth, promotes agriculture, and celebrates Western heritage. Since 1932, the Rodeo has committed more than $630 million to scholarships, educational grants, graduate assistantships, and other educational programs.

Membership & Customer Service Intern Overview

This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit operations and customer service during one of the largest events in Texas. The Membership & Customer Service Intern will assist with front-line communication, data entry, and administrative tasks that directly support HLSR�s mission and member services.

This internship is ideal for students studying business, nonprofit management, or communications, who are seeking real-world experience in a fast-paced, service-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

� Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone, learn to handle inquiries, and resolve issues.

� Assist with data entry using internal systems and CRM software

� Facilitate targeted communication to volunteers

� Contribute to the improvement of support documentation, resources and existing processes

� Assist with data analysis and reporting or project management projects

� Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

� Strong communication and interpersonal skills

� Detail-oriented with solid organizational habits

� Comfortable learning new systems and processes

� Able to adapt to shifting priorities and handle multiple tasks at once

� Willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends

Requirements

� Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate program

� Basic computer skills required, Office365; training will be provided on specific platforms

� Availability to work increased hours leading up to and during the Rodeo

� Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and sit, stand, or kneel as needed

� Enthusiastic about supporting a mission-driven, community-focused nonprofit

Internship Schedule

Hours will vary, with increased needs as the event approaches. Candidates must be available for flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends. The internship will conclude at or near the end of the event.
