Summary of Position

The Safety Administrative Coordinator acts as a key resource and liaison for safety programs, ensuring effective communication between supervisors and employees. This role supports the development and review of procedures aimed at controlling, eliminating, and preventing workplace hazards—whether chemical, physical, biological, or ergonomic.

 

Functions of the Position

  • Conducts daily facility walks and collaborates with safety committee members, maintenance, and sanitation teams to drive continuous safety improvements.
  • Assists in investigating and reporting workers' compensation claims and incidents involving damage to plant property or equipment.
  • Helps identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Monitors and reviews accident investigation reports, ensures appropriate follow-up, participates in claim reviews, and tracks incident metrics to inform procedural updates.
  • Supports safety training documentation, monthly safety meetings, and maintains safety communication boards and postings.
  • Manages employee communications and medical documentation within the safety system, including coordination with workers' compensation adjusters.
  • Oversees purchase orders for the safety team.
  • Maintains and updates Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) records and licensure.
  • Keeps accurate inventory records to prevent stockouts that could lead to line downtime.

 

Education, Experience, and Knowledge

  • 1–2 years of direct safety experience required.
  • 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in food processing and familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are a plus.
  • Background in delivering safety training and coaching is beneficial.

 

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Skilled in analyzing data to identify and implement safety improvements.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and adjusting as needed.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
