Job Description
The Food Safety Auditor is responsible for implementing food safety awareness while working with the Jonesboro, Waldenburg, and New Madrid facility management and personnel in order to maintain the essential duties and responsibilities listed below. This includes but is not limited to maintaining the Safe Quality Food Program standards, Integrated Pest Management Program, and Good Manufacturing Practices. The Food Safety Auditor/Sanitation Specialist’s job also includes ensuring that the Sanitation programs and policies support the company’s overall strategy and goals while maintaining a safe work environment in order to meet or exceed regulatory and customer expectations.
Job Duties
1. Must be self-motivated
2. Ability to communicate an established set of standards to both management and personnel.
3. Have good problem solving and organizational skills.
4. Have the ability to work with computer software such as Excel, Microsoft Word, and other computer programs.
5. Perform sanitation/GMP audits and note/communicate deficiencies to management.
6. Be able to travel to other locations to perform internal audits.
7. Must be willing to work extended hours for barges and pest management, as well as work some holidays
8. Acquire and maintain all essential certifications needed for this position including but not limited to: State/States Non Commercial pesticide certifications and other on-site training
9. Implement the Integrated pest control program, as well as be able to spray, fog, and fumigate areas of concern while following the label specifications.
10. Work with Quality Assurance and inform of all pertinent sanitation or food safety information that relates to the Jonesboro Division.
11. Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
12. Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned by the supervisor.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Must be able to walk, climb ladders & stairs, move arms to operate broom or equipment, bend, stoop, and kneel. Must be able to lift and carry 50-100 pounds. Must be able to reach above head or shoulders. Must be able to see close/far distances. Must be able to withstand environmental hot and cold temperatures for prolonged periods of time.
Education Requirements
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required
• Ability to create, revise and interpret technical documents such as quality specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance principles
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Ability to work on the internet, Spreadsheet, Presentation and Word Processing software
• Comprehensive experience and understanding of USDA Rules and Regulations
• Ability to uphold regulatory, company, and customer standards
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
• Must have the ability to complete required applicable forms in English, which requires the ability to read and write in English.
