IT Support Specialist – Healthcare
Job Summary:
The IT Support Specialist will provide first-level technical support and assistance to clinical and administrative staff across the hospital. This entry-level position is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of information technology, strong communication skills, and a desire to grow within a healthcare IT environment. The role focuses on user support, basic systems administration, documentation, and coordination with internal departments and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide help desk support to hospital staff, resolving issues related to hardware, software, printers, mobile devices, and clinical systems (e.g., EHR, PACS).
- Assist in the setup and deployment of workstations, laptops, and other technology assets.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, application access, and login issues.
- Document, track, and follow up on support tickets using the hospital’s ticketing system.
- Support system upgrades, new technology rollouts, and basic configuration tasks.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to understand and support IT needs.
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or vendors as needed.
- Maintain inventory records for IT equipment and assist with audits.
- Adhere to hospital IT policies, HIPAA, and data security standards.
- Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support, if required.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Health Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–2 years of experience in an IT support role, preferably in a healthcare or regulated environment.
- Familiarity with Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic networking concepts.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills (not required):
- Experience with hospital systems such as Medhost, Cerner, or Epic.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Basic scripting or familiarity with Active Directory and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Freshservice)
