Who we want:


We are looking for a Coalition Manager, Economic Advancement to provide project management to the 2-Gen Coalition for Economic Advancement. The 2-Gen Coalition for Economic Advancement seeks to increase the percent of Austin/Travis County families earning above family-sustaining income by advancing postsecondary success and employment pathways for parents and guardians of children. Coalition project management includes supporting the planning and coordination of coalition meetings, moving tasks forward between meetings, taking the lead on smaller projects, facilitating community voice inclusion in the coalition, drafting coalition communications, tracking coalition metrics, managing coalition operations, and supporting advocacy efforts. Additional tasks may include coordinating alignment with other coalitions within United Way and contributing to thought leadership of the Economic Advancement department.


For success in this role, you will center people with experience living with low-income in all aspects of this work, have a strong project management skillset, have prior knowledge or experience in collective impact or community organizing, be proactive in developing subject-matter expertise, maintain positive relationships with partners, and demonstrate a collaborative attitude towards community work.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide project management for activities of the 2-Gen Coalition for Economic Advancement by stewarding tasks between meetings with partners, developing meeting materials, and taking the lead on small projects
  • Support advocacy efforts of the coalition by coordinating advocacy visits to the Capitol and City Hall, attending relevant public meetings, keeping track of public input and budget timelines, and coordinating advocacy calls to action
  • Facilitate community voice inclusion in the coalition by supporting Parent Leaders and coordinating focus group opportunities
  • Plan learning elements and professional development opportunities for quarterly meetings with coalition partners
  • Draft coalition communications, including a quarterly newsletter, meeting recaps, and meeting reminders
  • Manage coalition operations, such as meeting logistics, maintaining partner lists, making payments to community members, etc.
  • Track coalition evaluation metrics
  • Provide thought leadership in all aspects of the 2-Gen Coalition for Economic Advancement and for the Economic Advancement department

What you’ll bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Social Work or a related field from an accredited university or college is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of full-time work experience in a non-profit or public agency setting, preferably in one or more of these fields: adult workforce development, postsecondary education, adult basic education (ESL, HSE, etc.), family support, or public policy systems’ development is required.
  • Previous experience in community organizing or experience coordinating and facilitating meetings of non-profit partners or volunteers is preferred.
  • Strong project management and attention-to-detail skills.
  • An ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced work environment.

This position is located in Austin, Texas, and reports directly to the Senior Director, Economic Advancement.
