Who we want:
We are looking for a Senior Program Manager, Economic Advancement to facilitate the successful implementation of Economic Advancement programming, and to provide a high level of support to program development. Economic Advancement programs seek to ensure all families in Greater Austin have opportunity to pursue education, increase income, improve living conditions, and build wealth across generations. As the Senior Program Manager, you will ensure successful development and implementation of Economic Advancement programs by facilitating agreements with partners, developing program operations, executing evaluation plans, creating avenues for community leadership and participant input, and constantly seeking to improve programming. In this role, you will also take the lead on program communications, relevant grant compliance, and maintaining program budgets.
For success in this role, you will center people with experience living with low-income in all aspects of this work, have a high capacity to work independently to further projects, have experience in program management and program evaluation, take initiative to constantly improve programming, be proactive in developing subject matter-expertise, maintain positive relationships with partners, and demonstrate a collaborative attitude towards community work.

What you’ll do:
- At a high level, support development of Economic Advancement programming by leading planning meetings, facilitating agreements with partners, designing program operations, and working closely with aligned staff and programs within United Way for Greater Austin
- Develop and execute program evaluation plans, in close partnership with the Data and Evaluation team
- Center participants in program design and implementation by facilitating community member leadership and designing avenues for meaningful participant input
- Draft communications about Economic Advancement programming, including recruitment materials and reports out to the United Way audience
- Ensure timely completion of grant deliverables, draft grant reports, and contribute to grant applications for programming
- Maintain program budgets
- Continuously problem-solve and seek out improvements during program implementation
- Proactively serve as a subject-matter expert for Economic Advancement by staying informed on proven interventions and serving as a speaker on the topic internally and externally
- Provide thought leadership and vision for the Economic Advancement department
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Social Work or a related field from an accredited university or college is preferred.
- At least 5 years of full-time work experience in a non-profit or public agency setting, preferably in one or more of these fields: adult workforce development, postsecondary education, adult basic education (ESL, HSE, etc.), family support, or public policy.
- Previous experience in program management and program evaluation.
- High project management and attention-to-detail skills.
- An ability to work independently in a cross-functional, fast-paced work environment.
