Overview:

We are seeking a Central Sterile Processing Technician also referred to as our Central Supply Tech or SPD Processor. The Sterile Technician plays a critical role in maintaining patient safety by preventing infection and ensuring sterile conditions throughout the hospital or healthcare facility.

 

Shift’s Available:  Days

Employment Type: Full-time

Hours: 8-hour shift

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, MO

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization of central sterile trays, instruments and equipment
  • Inventory and restocking of supplies
  • Computer data entry and patient charge card batching
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all department locations within facility and ability to access all departments
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment
Qualifications:

Education and Work Experience

 

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • Completion of a Sterile Processing program
  • High school diploma or equivalent or GED equivalent
  • Ability to read, comprehend and communicate effectively in writing
  • Skills to maintain active communications with surgical staff
  • Current BLS (AHA)

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

  • At least one (1) year experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting, but will provide competency based orientation for all staff, including new graduates
  • Minimum 6 months acute patient care facility
  • Sterile Processing Certification recommended
  • Medical terminology knowledge
