Our Hamilton LRT Project is utilizing collaborative contracting models to deliver multiple large packages of works. This approach requires multiple parties to form a coordinated approach to navigate a vast array of requirements to ultimately achieve common project goals.
The Hamilton LRT Project Delivery team is looking for a Senior Project Manager, Integration to a play a key role in coordinating and reconciling project requirements with other internal and external teams and manage interface requirements and risks between the multiple packages.
- Manage the efficient delivery of light rail transit corridor infrastructure elements through project activities including scope and requirements definition, preliminary design, detailed design, support preparation of contract documents, construction, and commissioning activities
- Communicate effectively with agencies, utility companies and other external stakeholders to define requirements, develop project implementation plans and monitor compliance for light railway infrastructure corridors; delivers proper ongoing communication and consultation with external stakeholders and elected officials
- Facilitate negotiations and decision making to advance design and construction of infrastructure related to the program to achieve program milestones and deliverables that are consistent with quality standards throughout the full project life cycle
- Partner and manage relationships with internal cross-functional departments (e.g., operations, safety and system assurance, asset management, corridor delivery group, procurement, sponsor office, legal, third-party agreements, property acquisition, and construction management) to ensure progression of the project and seamless commissioning/ deployment into operational service.
- Establish processes, controls, and measures to ensure overall project management and fiscal responsibility.
- Provide senior leadership oversight and direction to staff and project teams (e.g., define team member roles, responsibilities, and expectations). Manage staff and monitor work assignments to ensure adherence to timelines, achievement of performance objectives and develop and implement action plans to address performance gaps.
- Lead internal annual workplan process to ensure internal disciplines and expertise are ready and available to support the advancement of the project’s design.
- Proactively identify any areas of potential exposure or non-compliance and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risk.
- Completion of a degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Valid Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Licensed Architect (OAA) designations or equivalent (within or outside of Canada) are considered assets.
- Knowledge of and experience in evolving collaborative contracting such as Alliancing, Integrated Project Delivery, Progressive Design Build are considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering, architecture, and project management services associated with the planning, design, commercial, contract administration, and construction of transit stations or railway corridor infrastructure including structures, bridges, tunnels, and earthworks and drainage. Negotiating skills to navigate between multiple parties with differing perspectives along with interpersonal skills to develop collaborative internal relationships.
- Project management and coordination skills to provide senior leadership and oversight to staff and project teams within budget and schedule restraints and monitor project performance against business objectives.
- Knowledge and understanding of collaborative contracting models (Alliance, Progressive etc.)
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of construction engineering, construction processes and value engineering.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to manages complex project issues and risks and facilitate effective resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic relationships to work across division and with internal and external stakeholders/clients.
- Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
