We’re proud to support ESA’s Human and Robotic Exploration Directorate, and we’re looking for a talented VR Developer to join our team at ECSAT (Harwell Campus) and help shape the future of space technology.

 

 

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be supporting our services to the ESA Spaceship Team, including the development of immersive VR applications for space missions. Your work will directly contribute to projects like EXPOSE, helping simulate realistic lunar surface operations and astronaut training scenarios.

 

Key areas of focus include:

  • Designing and developing VR, AR, and XR applications for ESA’s Spaceship initiatives
  • Enhancing user interaction, UI/UX, and real-time overlays for operational simulations
  • Building collaborative multi-user environments for surface operations
  • Integrating evolving hardware specs (e.g., Argonaut lander) into realistic VR scenarios
  • Supporting sprint reviews and joint development with ESA teams
  • Helping communicate innovation across teams using immersive tech
 

 

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about immersive tech and excited to apply their skills in a space context. You’ll thrive in a collaborative, international environment and be ready to take ownership of your work.

 

Must-haves:

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Strong experience in VR development
  • Proficiency with Unreal Engine and programming skills
  • Experience in the space domain or a strong interest in space applications
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Fluent in English

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with CAD model integration and scenario design
  • Familiarity with multi-user VR environments
  • Willingness to travel to ESA sites, including the European Astronaut Centre in Germany
