Materials Coordinator Position Summary: 

Abrasive Form is a world leader in creep feed and 5-axis CBN grinding serving the Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT), Aerospace, and General Industrial sectors. Renowned for our expertise and service, we are proud to have long-term relationships with multiple major IGT and Aerospace customers.

The Materials Coordinator is highly organized and proactive to manage inbound material check-in, inventory control, and shipping/receiving operations within a manufacturing environment. Reporting to Shipping & Receiving Manager, the role partners closely with other departments including operations, inventory control, material handling, and customer account representatives.  This role consolidates multiple responsibilities into a single point of accountability, ensuring smooth material flow from receiving through operations. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inbound Material Check-In: Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verify accuracy against purchase orders, and document discrepancies. 
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records using Excel and ERP systems; perform cycle counts and reconcile variances. Assess inventory levels and work with Material Handlers and operations for active job inventory needs.  Involved with customer inventory audits.
  • Production Job Creation: Maintain accurate serial number spreadsheets and create single jobs from multiple lots. 
  • Shipping & Receiving: Coordinate outbound shipments, prepare shipping documentation, and ensure timely delivery of materials and products. 
  • Material Handling: Safely transport materials to and from storage and production areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment to the Operations area. 
  • Manufacturing Support: Ensure production lines are stocked with required materials and assist with material staging and replenishment. 
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in material flow, inventory accuracy, and warehouse organization. 
  • Documentation & Reporting: Generate inventory and shipping reports using Excel and ERP system; maintain logs and records in compliance with company policies. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Qualifications and Education Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications preferred. 
  • 3+ years of experience in material handling, inventory control, and shipping/receiving in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Ability to use a computer, Microsoft Office, vendor portal systems, and carrier label software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, data entry, and reporting). 
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). 
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail. 
  • Professional demeanor and positive attitude along with a strong work ethic.
  • Operate material handling equipment (forklift certification preferred). Previous forklift experience required. 
  • Excellent teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Must demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have excellent audit skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

Physical Demands

Talking, hearing and using hands to operate computer equipment.  Must be able to lift at least 50lbs frequently.  Must be able to work in a plant environment with loud noise, temperature fluctuations, etc.  Physical ability to do work requiring frequent standing, stooping, twisting and bending.

Working Environment

Usual manufacturing environment with temperature fluctuations, noise from and interactions with equipment, and safety standards of PPE and practices required.
