REPORTS TO: Managing Director School Operations - Elementary
POSITION TYPE: 11-month
START DATE: Immediate
COMPENSATION: $60,818 - $72,981, Home Office Grade 5

THE OPPORTUNITY
YES Prep needs a dynamic School Health Support Specialist with a robust set of experiences, to make our mission a reality. As a YES Prep employee, you will achieve jaw-dropping results, create pathways to opportunity for our students, and build transformative relationships.
To put it simply, you will play a critical support role in ensuring high-quality, uninterrupted health services for students across YES Prep campuses. This position serves as a subject matter expert in all medical matters and provide training, onboarding, and procedural guidance for new and existing medical staff.
THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:
Support and Training
- Providing support to CMA, RN, unlicensed assistive personnel, or other personnel designated to have responsibility for assisting students with health needs in interpreting and training on the medical plan for all our students, including those under section 504 and special education;
- Providing temporary on-campus medical support when a CMA/RN is out, ensuring uninterrupted care and services for students, including hearing and vision screening for special education referrals;
- Training and onboarding new CMA/RN and other related staff team members on health protocols, software systems, compliance procedures, and campus-specific workflows;
- Designing and facilitating training sessions for campus-based CMA, RN, and other school personnel throughout the year, including but not limited to lifts, feeding tubes, toileting, restroom support, refreshers, and procedural updates based on current health guidance and district standards.
Serving Students, Families, and Staff
- Administering first aid, medications, and routine care to students according to physician orders and YES Prep protocols;
- Monitoring inventory of medical supplies when covering at campuses and reporting replenishment needs as appropriate;
- Providing clear, compassionate communication to students, families, and staff about health issues or incidents while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Maintaining flexibility and readiness to report to any YES Prep campus within the district as needs arise—often with short notice.
Compliance
- Serving as a quality control point for medical protocols, identifying areas for improvement or retraining when necessary;
- Collaborating with the Managing Director of School Operations, the Compliance team and other district leaders to ensure consistency in health protocols and procedures across campuses;
- Creating and maintaining standard operating procedures related to health and medical;
- Maintaining accurate student health records and documentation in compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and state regulations;
- Additional duties as assigned.

THE MUST HAVES
- Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
- Current cardiopulmonary (CPR) certification required and automatic external defibrillator (AED) (or obtaining within first 3 months)
- Minimum of 3 years of exemplary experience in public school health nursing, or an equivalent educational setting
- Has strong knowledge of school-based healthcare procedures, including medication administration, student chronic condition care (e.g., diabetes, asthma), and communicable disease management
- Demonstrates exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable with fast-paced, changing environments and short-term assignments
- Can travel to different campuses daily with reliability and punctuality
- Able to train and coach others effectively and compassionately
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity

THE PERKS
- Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
- Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option or a $24 monthly option that includes $50 YES Prep Paid Health Savings Account contribution, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
