Summary Description

Handles and/or transfers incoming telephone calls to develop a whole financial relationship with our members, including opening and maintaining accounts, products, and services, as well as acquiring and closing loans and selling insurance products. 


Essential Duties

  • Serve membership by providing service and information courteously and efficiently in-person, by telephone, and/or other correspondence.
  • Complex knowledge of new accounts to include doing business as accounts, trusts, IRA, fiduciary, and/or power of attorney 
  • Perform preliminary research, answer member questions, and resolve problems and complaints concerning Credit Union accounts.
  • Meet all established lending goals, and cross-sell products and services
  • Perform account verifications 
  • Effectively communicate and utilize sales skills to identify member needs and offer Credit Union products that best fit those needs.s 
  • Accept and complete member loan applications in-person, by phone, mail, or other means deemed necessary.y
  • Ability to explain different loan types and credit terms available to members
  • Educate the member on the various delivery mechanisms available through the Credit Union, such as ATM cards, Telephone Banking (audio response system), check card, credit cards website, and other delivery mechanisms as they are introduced to the credit union; complete appropriate authorizations or documents so that the member can use the desired delivery methods. 
  • Travel to DMV offices to process various titles and other documentation
  • Prepare Permit to Transport from and Release Lien documents, as needed 
  • Process stop payments on share draft accounts 
  • Assist members with basic questions regarding loan accounts
  • Mail loan applications and/or information to members and prospective members
  • Obtain the member information necessary to send Bank and Western Union wires
  • Execute loan transactions following direction, loan approval limits, and policy 
  • Assist members with the proper completion of payroll deduction forms; set up payroll distribution amounts
  • Complies with all federal, state, and organizational policies, procedures, and processes, including (but not limited to) the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and robbery procedures
  • Knowledge of regulations and compliance as they apply to member service and loans
  • Knowledge of credit union security procedures; immediately notifies the department manager of any irregularities 
  • Performs additional duties as may be directed by the Assistant Manager or chain of command thereof
Requirements

Education/Experience

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent 
  • Two (2) years of lending experience, financial institution preferred 
  • Four (4) years of financial institution sales experience, and/or Call Center experience, or five (5) years of non-financial institution sales experience and/or Call Center

Tests/Certificates/Licenses

  • A simulated skills assessment test may be administered 
  • Background check and fingerprinting may be required to obtain a limited license to sell insurance products 

Skills/Competencies

  • Personal computer knowledge; skills in using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (electronically and manually), such as, but not limited to, interest, dividends, percentages, and apply concepts of basic mathematics
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work and/or information
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply credit union/job/general guidelines and procedures
  • Excellent public speaking, verbal and/or written communication skills (in-person, by telephone, and/or any other communication method currently being utilized)
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented qualities 
  • Conduct oneself in a professional and mature manner
  • Ability to proofread and edit accurately 
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work well under pressure 
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy 
  • Flexible work and/or travel hours

Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Constantly required to talk and hear
