Per Diem Position 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 30–90-minute massages to clients by appointment.
• Evaluate members' soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
• Evaluate clients to determine painful or stressed areas of the body.
• Listen to clients during appointments and adjust technique as they desire.
• Advise clients on stretching, strengthening or relaxation methods.
• Develop and propose members’ treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used.
• Consult with members about their medical histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether massage would be helpful.
• Prepare and blend oils and apply the blends to members' skin.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Suggest future massage appointments and treatments to clients.

Requirements

• Completed 500 hours of massage therapy courses.
• Must hold current massage therapy certification and State License.
• Experience working in an upscale spa environment preferred.
• At least four years' experience as a professional massage therapist.
• Time management abilities.
• Proficient knowledge of reflexology, Swedish, prenatal, hot stone, trigger point, sports, and deep tissue massage.
• Demonstrated sales and customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Great interpersonal skills.
• Dexterous and able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to keep a well-groomed, professional appearance.
• Ability to perform massages on diverse clients.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CA State Certification.

Physical Requirements 

• Must be able to carry and/or lift up to 75 lbs.
• Dexterous and able to stand for extended periods of time
• Repeat the same movements, including but not limited to fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists.
• Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, twist, reach out or stretch the body.
• Ability to use the hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Keep or regain the body's balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.
• Use muscles for extended periods without getting tired.
• Use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired.
• Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects.
• Move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place.
• Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm.
