Job Details

  • Location: Spring Lake, MI
  • Work Schedule: Generally day shift, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day
  • Reporting To: Vice President, Operations
  • Team Dynamics: Collaborates closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality & Safety, Customer Service, Accounting, Sales, and other key departments
  • Travel: Up to 10% may be required
  • Certifications: APICS preferred but not required

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Ability to manage multiple operational and supplier needs efficiently
  • Strong team player with experience in purchase order entry and inventory control
  • Prior experience with ERP systems is required
  • Background in a manufacturing environment; experience in similar industries preferred

Responsibilities

  • Procure materials and supplies necessary for organizational operations, including raw materials, non-manufactured inventory, tools, and plant supplies.
  • Actively source suppliers and manage vendor relationships, particularly in relation to inventory materials.
  • Negotiate pricing with service and raw material suppliers, including commodity items.
  • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to balance inventory with production needs.
  • Work with the production team to develop production schedules.
  • Place purchase orders and monitor delivery dates.
  • Assist in resolving issues related to defective, unacceptable, or returned goods as needed.
  • Coordinate schedules with other departments to align procurement lead-times with production needs for standard and custom raw materials.
  • Provide current cost estimates on engineered products for quoting purposes.
  • Support Engineering and Sales/Marketing in sourcing suppliers for new product initiatives.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a closely related field
  • Minimum 3 years of purchasing and inventory control experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with purchasing commodity raw materials
  • Solid understanding of root cause analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet usage
