Purpose
The Principal Data Architect is responsible for setting and enforcing standards for data ingestion, data governance, deployment principles, environment scalability and performance, design requirements, coding standards, and implementation rules. The Principal Data Architect plays a critical role in evaluating technology options, aligning technology strategy with business needs, and mentoring the development team to elevate overall team capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains standards for data ingestion, data governance, deployment, scalability, performance, design requirements, coding, and implementation.
- Evaluates and recommends technology solutions to meet current and future business needs.
- Partners with business stakeholders to build technology strategy and roadmap.
- Mentors and guides the development team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure data architecture supports business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Oversees the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure data environments.
- Ensures best practices in data security, privacy, and compliance are integrated into all data solutions.
- Stays current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
- Proven expertise in data governance, data modeling, and large-scale data environment design.
- Strong experience with modern data platforms, cloud technologies, and data integration tools.(i.e. Databricks, Snowflake, Python, Azure, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to set technical standards and mentor development teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
- Experience in the healthcare or pharmacy industry.
Work Environment
This position works in a professional home or office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as reading and working with various forms of data on a screen for extended periods of time.
