Job Description:Summary
The Digital Project Manager is responsible for leading digital initiatives in a higher education setting to improve student experience, support academic delivery, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks. The role demands strong collaboration across academic, technical, and administrative teams, with a focus on managing complex education technology systems through a systems-thinking approach.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Project Delivery – Lead all stages of the digital project lifecycle, from scope definition to closure, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with higher education standards.
Complex System Management – Oversee projects involving LMS (Canvas, Moodle), SMS, CRM platforms (Salesforce, Dynamics), student portals, and academic technologies, ensuring effective integration and optimisation.
Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with academic leaders, administrative staff, IT teams, and students; run workshops, training, and user testing; and communicate technical concepts in accessible language.
Governance & Compliance – Maintain thorough project documentation, report to governance bodies, and uphold regulatory requirements (TEQSA, CRICOS, ESOS) and data privacy standards.
Change Management – Design and implement change management strategies to drive adoption, digital literacy, and cultural shifts, with tailored communication and training.
Continuous Improvement – Apply evaluation methods to identify improvements, champion agile approaches, and simplify technology solutions for sustainable outcomes.
Risk Management – Identify, mitigate, and monitor project risks while keeping stakeholders informed and aligned with project objectives.
Required Skills and Experience:
Proven experience managing digital projects in a complex higher education or similar regulated environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of educational technologies including LMS, SMS, CRM systems, and data analytics.
Proficiency with project management methodologies (Agile, traditional) and tools (Jira, Microsoft Project, Smart Sheets).
Advanced problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical skills, and ability to navigate complex organisational environments.
Demonstrated capability to apply systems thinking, questioning, and analysis to develop holistic, fit-for-purpose solutions.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in IT, Project Management, Educational Technology, or related discipline.
Professional certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent).
In-depth understanding of the student lifecycle (admissions, enrolment, assessment, graduation).
Familiarity with digital accessibility standards and inclusive digital design principles.
