Position Summary:
 

Hamilton-Madison House’s Caregiver Citywide Support Program serves informal/unpaid caregivers of older adults and their loved ones, throughout New York City’s five boroughs, with an emphasis on the linguistic and cultural competence needs of Asian and Southeast Asian families.  

The Program Director will be responsible for overseeing the program.  This includes serving as spokesperson for the program; creating and implementing outreach plans; supervising MSW, BSW and support staff; oversight of the distribution of services to clients; and completion and submission of all reports to the NYC Department for the Aging, the funding source for this program. This position reports to the Assistant Executive Director for Older Adults and Community Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the ongoing success of Hamilton-Madison House’s Citywide Caregiver Services program
  • Manage the development and implementation of a marketing and outreach plan, including social media platform
  • Provide oversight and training to project team of 4 – 6 staff members including MSW, BSW, interns and support staff and including individual supervision, case conferences, and interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Ensure that timelines for assessments, reassessments and all deliverables are met
  • Review and document approval of client records and caregiver support groups and training workshops
  • Develop and maintain resource database of benefits, entitlements, programs, services and resources available to clients
  • Develop caregiver training workshops to support groups to support caregivers in their role and help them maintain their own health and wellbeing
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with our satellite offices to better serve participants. 
  • Promote the organization and serve as primary spokesperson for the caregiver program through outreach, participation in community events, and representing the organization to the public, working with partners
  • Work with colleagues within the Hamilton-Madison House Senior Services Department to ensure that available resources are maximized and program efforts are integrated within the department
  • Meet deadlines internal and external 
  • May require you to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the working caregivers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
  • SIFI Certification preferred
  • Excellent clinical social work skills including client engagement, assessment, and the biological, psychological, and social aspects of aging and the impact of disabilities and illness on aging and the family
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong management skills
  • Knowledge of New York City and New York State and federal benefits and entitlements
  • Ability to travel on public transportation and climb stairs to conduct home visits and information sessions
  • Basic computer literacy and Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Bilingual English/Asian language preferred

Compensation: $67,500 - $77,250 depending on qualifications and experience

Hours Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, occasional weekend and evening hours
