TITLE: Transportation Manager
Department: Transportation 
REPORTS TO: VP of Operations
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt/Salary 

Gold Star Foods, a fast-growing national foodservice distribution center is one of the largest solutions for the K-12 school foodservice market. We do this through teamwork, problem solving and respectful interactions. This integral position within the organization is to develop and lead a fast-paced team of drivers to support our southeast region. 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

This position is a critical support role for the Transportation team. The Transportation Manager works closely with the warehouse team and other departments within the organization to lead a team of drivers to provide our customers with safe and exceptional delivery services and our teammates a great place to work. 

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Screening of potential new hire associate applications.
  • Manages financials, transportation payroll, fleet, exempt staff, hourly associates, outside vendors.
  • Responsible for managing any audit and inspection requirements.
  • Work closely with Safety & HR for WC and Incident reporting and management.
  • Work closely with Finance regarding departmental financial results and reporting.
  • Work closely with Sales & Customer Experience Specialists for customer needs. Works closely with Warehouse Manager in collaboration of customer needs. Coaching / Disciplinary responsibilities for staff and hourly team members. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS: 

  • Computer skills mandatory – Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of temperature-controlled environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multiple levels and multiple departments within an organization, creating an engaging and supportive environment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

  • 3 years of hands-on transportation operations experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience managing hourly employees.
  • Foodservice experience preferred.
  • Previous history of driving critical KPI metric improvement and performance. 
  • Prior experience with E-Logs, Omnitracs, and Roadnet, Drivecam or similar preferred.
