Support the full-time staff of the Office of Spiritual Development by completing professional administrative tasks to enhance and fulfill the department outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist full-time staff with processing Serve Now trips.
  • Provide administrative support in the management of Serve Now team members’ applications and required documents.
  • Assist with the preparation, set up, and clean up of Student Development training sessions and workshops.
  • As directed, assist with the delivery and teaching of content in Student Development training sessions for students.
  • Provide support through research and administrative tasks in the creation and development of new Student Development training and workshop content.
  • Provide support through research and administrative tasks in the enhancement of existing Student Development training and workshop content.
  • Provide administrative support to the Student Development senior director, director, and coordinator.
  • Assist with creative and administrative tasks on new Student Development initiatives.
  • Assist with other LU Serve initiatives as directed (e.g., Global Focus Week and Serve Lynchburg).
  • Work effectively and collaboratively as a team member, embracing and fostering the mission of LU Serve, the Office of Spiritual Development, and Liberty University.  
  • Schedule requires student worker to commit 16-20 hours/week during office hours.  

REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Education and Experience:

  • Current on all CSER credits
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office knowledge and experience
  • Able to focus on details
  • Reliable, self-starter, and team player

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

Communication and Comprehension

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Strong organizational skills. Detail oriented.
  • Computer skills, especially Microsoft office; ability to learn new skills quickly.

Problem Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. 
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 25 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting.  It is well lighted and the noise level is moderate.
