COURIER:

This is a semi-skilled position that provides inventory control for the Emergency Servies/Fire Rescue Department. This position is responsible for the delivery of Fire Rescue equipment and supplies, as well as the receiving, handling, storing, shipping, and dispensing activities within the warehouse. This role ensures that all county standards are consistently met and is accountable for ensuring compliance with established laws, regulations, and policies. Additionally, the position involves performing necessary tasks to maintain a well-controlled inventory of all Fire Rescue equipment and supplies essential for operational support. This position works under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief of Logistics and Fire Rescue Warehouse Manager.


 

Position Duties

  • Receives, unpacks and stores Fire/EMS parts and supplies in proper storage area.
  • Checks incoming materials against purchase orders or invoices.
  • Issues Fire/EMS supplies or equipment on approved requisitions for a variety of purposes.
  • Follows up on Fire Station supplies and equipment ordered.
  • Maintains records indicating the receipt and disposition of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensures that high consumption items are maintained in stock.
  • Takes inventory and maintains updated inventory.
  • Keeps stockroom/area clean and in good working order.
  • Locates and orders replacement supplies and equipment not in the inventory.
  • Performs other job-related functions as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma / GED. Education and experience with inventory, computer usage and MS programs desired, but not required.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:

  • Valid Florida driver’s license.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.  


Ability to operate a fax machine, adding machine, calculator, radios, regular and cell phones, scanner, 

and a copy machine.  


Ability to use a personal computer.  

Ability to organize and prioritize.  


Good physical ability, with the strength to do medium lifting and carrying.

Other Qualifications

Environmental Conditions

Work is primarily performed inside (office and warehouse atmosphere) with the possibility of pickup and delivery duties utilizing department vehicles. 

Work in areas of heat, humidity, dangerous machinery, infectious disease, and hazardous materials/chemicals.

Ability to lift and carry items up to 100 lbs.

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment required to perform the job's essential functions.

Ability to climb ladders safely.
