The role of Workshop Production Manager is to lead the fabrication team to ensure the effective planning and completion of the fabrication and assembly works in accordance with the project specifications and schedule requirements. The role involves processing and co-ordination of a number of separate fabrication and assembly streams of work in a multipurpose facility, including materials management, Clean, Plastics and High Purity pipework fabrication and skid or PED assembly including delivery to site and coordination of activities in line with project schedule requirements. The works need to be delivered safely and efficiently, i.e. on time and without incidents, to the required quality standards and ensuring timely delivery to the site in accordance with the projected installation plan.

Key Responsibilities

Typical tasks include but are not limited to the following: 
 
 
Safety
  • Compliance with our Safety Management System (SMS) 
  • Ensure safety documents is in place, such as Site Safety Statement, RAMS, SOPs, STAR
  • Liaise with Safety representatives.
  • Ensure toolbox talks, inductions, training coordination are completed.

Environmental

  • Production facility compliance with our Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Waste Management – segregation and disposal co-ordinated.
  • To be aware of and support any energy management / optimisation initiatives.


Quality

  • Compliance with Company Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Compliance to contract specific quality plans and ITPs.
  • Ensure incoming inspection of materials is completed, check certification and record heat numbers.
  • Ensure all enquiries and clarifications (RFIs) are raised and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Quality of output is consistent and meets contractual requirements.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators for the production and report as required.
  • Complete audits and host customer / 3rd party audits as required.
  • Ensure welding procedures are current and welder qualifications are current and correct.
  • Ensure fabrication traceability for materials and welding is as per client specification.
  • Issue isometrics and drawings to workshop floor and ensure traceability is carried out.
  • Ensure welds are recorded daily and completed on database.
  • Resolve any observations / non compliances in a timely manner.
  • Report and document NCRs.


 


Planning

  • Hold weekly coordination meeting of all activities with workshop staff and record minutes.
  • Develop priority plans for fabrication to support site delivery requirements.
  • Implement fabrication plan and priority requirements with workshop team.
  • Regularly review workforce activity and ensure efficiency is maintained. 
  • Ensure walk down of fabricated and assembled items is carried out on completion.
  • Ensure correct tagging and labelling is completed.
  • Record wrapping and shipping conditions prior to delivery as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure scanning for fabrication and delivery is carried out and shipping list prepared.
  • All outgoing shipment co-ordination with the sites.
  • Communication of daily, weekly plans and progress to all resources.

People

  • Resource planning including staff and craft including holidays. 
  • Ensure timesheets for all are completed accurately on a weekly basis.
  • Day to day craft management by line supervision i.e. Charge Hands but overall planning, review and co-ordination of craft requirements proactively and liaising with Craft Management
  • Staff planning including hiring requirements and management of staff.

Facilities

  • Consumables to support production are in place.
  • Oversee the annual certification of the various elements within the building such as (but not limited to) lift shaft, intruder alarm, security cameras, fire protection, clean room and AC validation.
  • Attend to and support building maintenance issues as they arise.
  • Ensure building security is maintained and approved key holder access is in place.
  • Facility is kept clean, and cleaning is completed regularly.
  • Manage staff and ensure staff and craft holidays are coordinated to support the fabrication activities.
  • Ensure walk down of fabricated and assembled items is carried out on completion.
  • Ensure correct tagging and labelling is completed.
  • Record wrapping and shipping conditions prior to delivery as deemed necessary.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education, Training & Experience

  • Degree Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Proficient in suite of Microsoft applications, Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Proficient in the use of Navis Works or equivalent packages.
  • Min 5 years relevant work experience in workshop environment is preferred. 
  • Experienced in process industry in piping, stainless steel fabrication is preferable.
  • Experience in Tool Install project work would be an advantage.
