SHAPING THE FUTURE—Technologically and PROFESSIONALLY.
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics IAF we know our technologies like the back of our hand. Because we are one of the few scientific institutions worldwide to conduct research along the entire semiconductor value chain and on tailor-made synthetic diamonds. Whether high-frequency circuits for communications technology, voltage converter modules for electromobility, laser systems for measurement processes, or innovative hardware and software for quantum computers and quantum sensors: we develop tomorrow’s technology in-house for a sustainable and secure society. When will you join us?
What you will do
The Microelectronics (ME) department designs microelectronic components and circuits for high-frequency technology and power electronics. Systems for sensor technology, communication technology, and power electronics are developed based on high-frequency modules. We are also equipped with state-of-the-art measurement technology.
Your tasks will include:
- With us, you will develop, design, and implement state-of-the-art circuits, modules, and subsystems in the frequency range up to an impressive 700 GHz.
- Your expertise will contribute to the realization of groundbreaking sensor systems, communication solutions, and space technologies.
- You will be actively involved from the concept phase to characterization and will contribute your ideas to exciting projects.
What you bring to the table
- Completed degree (diploma or master's) in electrical engineering, microsystems engineering, or communications engineering, ideally with a doctorate
- Professional experience in working on and managing research projects
- Comprehensive knowledge of high-frequency and ultra-high-frequency electronics and the corresponding measurement technology
- Experience in the development of high-frequency circuits, preferably integrated circuits
- Confident use of circuit simulation programs and EM simulation tools (ADS, CST, HFSS, Momentum)
- Business fluent German and English skills as well as team spirit, strong communication skills, and an independent scientific approach to work
What you can expect
- Access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure with the latest technology in high-frequency electronics
- Committed collaboration with innovative teams and industry on exciting projects
- Freedom for creativity and the opportunity to shape your own research and actively participate in scientific exchange
- Comprehensive development opportunities through a wide range of training courses and participation in international conferences
- A variety of additional benefits, including a company pension plan (VBL), a subsidy for the DeutschlandTicket, and health services
- Flexible working time models with the option to work up to 40% remotely from home, depending on the job
- Family-friendly workplace with daycare places at the “Junikäfer” daycare center in Freiburg, a child-friendly office, and extensive counseling services for home and elder care (pme Familienservice)
- Frelo station (bike rental system) and free parking garage with e-charging stations directly at the institute
