About PTS Products Inc., a Tavoron company: we build, customize, and assemble electrical panels from drawings and schematics. With services including automated wire cutting, stripping machines, and automated crimping machines, we are committed to quality, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. We have 30 employees in this location.
About Tavoron: leader in manufacturing automation and industrial systems headquartered in Eagan MN. Tavoron is comprised of a diverse group of 10 companies across the United States (Minnesota, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, North Carolina) and Canada.
Position Summary:
The General Manager / Sales Director is responsible for leading overall business operations and driving sales growth for a company specializing in the design and manufacturing of electrical panels and custom electrical systems. This dual-role leader will oversee sales strategy, key account relationships, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The ideal candidate is a proven sales leader with a background in electrical engineering and familiarity with profit and loss (P&L). This role has 3 direct reports – HR, Operations and Quoting/Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet revenue targets and grow market share.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities while expanding relationships with existing clients.
- Collaborate with marketing and technical teams to align messaging and solution development with customer needs.
- Oversee pricing strategies, proposals, contract negotiations, and closing of high-value deals.
- Actively contribute to the quoting process and provide final approval on major opportunities to ensure alignment with margin goals and customer expectations.
Business Operations
- Lead day-to-day operations of the business to ensure efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with design, engineering, production, and project management teams to meet client deadlines and technical requirements.
- Establish and track KPIs for operational excellence, including lead times, quality, and resource utilization.
Engineering Oversight
- Leverage electrical engineering expertise to support complex customer projects, provide technical sales support, and review designs for feasibility and compliance.
- Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to ensure alignment between sales commitments and manufacturing capabilities.
Financial & Strategic Management
- Monitor company’s P&L, develop budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics to drive profitability.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
- Report on business performance to executive leadership, providing strategic input and actionable recommendations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required
- Minimum 7–10 years of combined experience in technical sales and operations leadership roles within electrical panel manufacturing or related industries.
- Strong understanding of custom panel design, control systems, and electrical components.
- Demonstrated success in leading a sales team and growing revenue through strategic initiatives.
- Familiarity with P&L with a track record of improving margins and operational efficiency.
- Strong communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Ability to travel to customer locations, tradeshows, or vendor meetings (up to 15–20%).
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with UL508A, NEC, or IEC standards.
- Knowledge of or experience with ISO standards and certification processes related to quality management systems.
- Experience with CRM platforms and ERP systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Experience serving industrial, OEM, utility, or commercial sectors.
