Tavern Research is a political tech startup that builds tools and insights to help our customers win elections and make better decisions. We specialize in scaling expert human work, like content generation and survey research. We're a venture-backed, mission driven, fast-moving, mostly technical team focused on supporting winning campaigns. Everything else is on our website. If you still have questions, let us know when you apply!
About You
You’re organized, resourceful, and calm under pressure. You’ve probably managed a regional field program or something similarly chaotic, coordinating moving parts, wrangling personalities, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
You may not be technical (yet), but you’re tech-curious, eager to learn, and unafraid to dive into new tools or systems. You thrive in fast-paced environments, love solving problems before they become problems, and take pride in being one step ahead.
You’re equally comfortable supporting a senior leader and managing multi-step projects, whether that’s coordinating interviews, aligning timelines across teams, or ensuring deliverables are on track. You naturally keep things moving, spot risks early, and make sure the right people are in the loop at the right time.
About the Role
This is a high-trust, high-impact role serving as a force multiplier for Tavern’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and ensuring the technical team runs at full speed. You’ll combine executive support, light-touch project management, and office logistics coordination, making sure priorities are clear, communication flows smoothly, and nothing falls through the cracks.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of tracking and coordinating technical projects from idea to delivery. You’ll maintain project timelines, flag risks before they become blockers, and keep cross-functional workstreams aligned. Whether it’s preparing a status update for leadership, wrangling inputs for a key deliverable, or ensuring post-meeting action items get done, you’ll make sure momentum never stalls.
You’ll also handle the operational details that keep our CTO and Chicago office humming, managing calendars, coordinating interviews, arranging meetings, and ensuring the team has the resources they need. It’s a role for someone who thrives in the mix of big-picture coordination and hands-on execution, with the judgment to know when to escalate and when to just get it done.
This role is a great fit for someone with campaign or political operations experience who’s excited to break into tech and work alongside a sharp, mission-driven team.
We value in-person collaboration and expect employees to work regularly from our Chicago office.
