SUMMARY: Under basic supervision, maintains a stimulating learning environment for students. Assures the smooth and efficient operation of the school media center.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The job description is subject to change at any time by the employer. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists in the design, development, and implementation of lesson plans modeled by certified teacher. Replicates instruction provided by certified teacher.
- Responsible for student supervision, parent contact when required and assists with data entry of student grades.
- Responsible for the maintenance of adopted curriculum materials and instructional technology assigned to classrooms.
- Maintains all library/media center resources. Processes and catalogs incoming and outgoing materials.
- Catalogs new books and materials; re-shelves and repairs print and non-print resources.
- Prepares circulation reports including overdue notices.
- Updates certified teacher as supplies are needed.
- Assists students and teachers with locating and selecting materials, using technology,
- Plans, prepares, and maintains bulletin boards and media center displays in conjunction with classroom teachers and the site action plan.
- Organizes media center fundraisers and supervises volunteers. Participates in planning and organizing literacy promotions and other school events.
- Attends site and District professional development meetings.
- Completes other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; AND some clerical and office experience preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Required Knowledge of:
- Dewey decimal system and other means of library organization.
- Age appropriate curriculum.
- District, School Board, and Department policies and procedures.
Required Skills in:
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
- Assessing, prioritizing, and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
- Managing and supervising student activities.
- Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a standard office/library environment and may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
