Your team
Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA) is a leading alternative investment asset manager within the Pictet Group, specialising in private equity, private real estate, private credit and hedge funds. The Pictet Group currently manages over €50bn in alternative assets, including more than €25bn in private equity. In 2023, Pictet launched its first direct private equity fund, focusing on mid-market European buyout investments.
As our franchise continues to expand, we are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our investment team in London. You will work within a team of 12 professionals dedicated to the direct private equity fund, investing primarily in the UK and DACH regions, with a focus on founder-led businesses in B2B services, Education, and Industrials.
This role offers a unique opportunity to join one of the world’s leading private financial institutions, within an ambitious direct investments team. You will work from the outset in an entrepreneurial “start-up” environment, while benefiting from the support and expertise of senior professionals within PAA and the wider Pictet Group.
Your role
You will gain outstanding exposure to the European private equity deal-making process, learning from highly experienced professionals with strong industry backgrounds. This role will also enable you to develop transferable quantitative and communication skills.
- Market Analysis & Sector Screening: Contribute to identifying investment opportunities through market research and sector analysis. Develop investment theses using financial and strategic assessment tools, and assist in the initial evaluation of potential acquisition targets.
- Acquisition Support: Play an active role in the acquisition process for new investments, participating in various stages of due diligence alongside experienced team members.
- Portfolio Management Assistance: Support the management of a diversified portfolio of direct investments. Collaborate with C-level executives from portfolio companies and external consultants to implement value-creation initiatives and assist in preparing quarterly performance reports.
Your profile
- University degree in a relevant field such as finance, engineering, economics, or data science from a top-tier institution.
- Previous relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, consulting, business/corporate development, or other analytical or financial roles.
- Exceptional analytical skills and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- Strong modelling skills, proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), and familiarity with AI tools.
- Excellent command of English (German language skills are a plus).
In addition to technical skills, the ideal candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, dynamism, maturity, and a strong desire to achieve results, always with a keen sense of ethics and a collaborative approach.
