About the Department

 Application Procedures:

Position Duties

Assist in developing an develop a Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) compliant exercise.

Assist with developing the exercise, running exercise planning meetings, creating exercise documentation to include a Master Scenario Events List (MSEL), and running the exercise on exercise day if available (6/26/25).

Assist in creating HSEEP compliant tabletop exercises for specific areas, such as Joint Information Center coordination and an emergency response with limited communications. 

Help plan and organize HSEEP compliant drills for a variety of functions, including a call center drill, a road closure mapping drill, and CERT Exercise Day drills.

Minimum Qualifications


Any bachelor or graduate degree involved in government, first response, or natural science would be good for this internship to include the following:

Emergency Management
Public Administration
Homeland Security
Environmental Science/Environmental Studies
Criminal Justice
Civil Engineering (Focus on Emergency Management or Infrastructure)
Health Sciences/Public Health
Communication/Media Studies
Geography/Urban Planning
Business Administration


Must be at least 18 years of age.
Currently enrolled as a senior in a four-year program in business or accounting or a closely related field. Or have obtained a bachelor's degree in business or accounting or a closely related field within two years of the closing of this post.
Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average and an instructor or professor recommendation.
Must be available to work twenty hours minimum and twenty-five hours maximum per week starting in January 2026 for 12 weeks.
Reliable transportation.

Other Qualifications


Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient skill with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and presentation tools.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Self-starter and positive attitude.
Comfortable in presenting findings to internal teams.
