Job Description

Operators are responsible for the safe operation of protective package manufacturing equipment to produce quality product by continual folding, packing, and inspecting products while also focusing on safety and efficiency. This position manages the safe operation of plastic packaging to produce quality products while training new hires and support workers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all activities on their assigned machine during their shift such as operating a production line - includes line setup, line shut down, change overs, materials usage, inspections, quality audits and production entry.
  • Routinely review, utilize, and follow production schedules in addition to following schedule changes and supplemental production notes on schedules/orders.
  • Control machine speed and output by adjusting machine controls and computer in addition to maintaining quality production output, speeds, and standard rates.
  • Maintain accurate product identification and inventory cycle counts
  • Provide training to team members on current lines and communicate to shift leads and training coordinator current status on progress.
  • Follow all Plant Safety Procedures including Lockout/Tagout
  • 6S/Housekeeping Production
  • Keep timely and clear communication with other production personnel and plant management
  • Perform routine quality testing of finished product
  • Measure and record production parameters and material density
  • Perform and record machine preventive maintenance

 

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Requirements: 

  • 1-3 years of prior work experience in a manufacturing facility is preferred and/or experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong English communication skills (listening, understanding, speaking, writing, and reading).

Other Requirements:

  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, MS Excel, Internet).
  • A good work ethic, solid attendance record and a positive attitude.
    The successful candidate must be a team player and be able to work collaboratively with fellow employees. He/she must also be able to take direction.
  • Operators need to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.

Physical Requirements:

  • Operators need to demonstrate mechanical aptitude and computer entry skills.
  • Operators need to be able to understand and follow English based instructions, schedules, and safety documentation.
  • Operators need to be able to read a tape measure/ruler.
  • Operators need to be able to stand for up to 12 hrs.
  • Manually lift scrap material weighing up to 50 lbs. for disposal.
  • Operate a powered forklift to retrieve and return raw materials and finished goods.
