Position Overview

The SBA Servicing Specialist plays a pivotal role in the booking and maintaining of all loans at Five Star Bank. Working closely with all members of the SBA team to effectively manage the loan disbursement process, post-funding servicing, and reporting on the loans in the servicing portfolio in the SBA Department. This position supports the ongoing credit servicing administration for a portfolio of 7(a) loans and maintains the Borrower relationship to sustain a positive customer experience. The SBA Servicing Specialist must be able to effectively mange their time to meet deadlines and ensure tasks are completed.


Essential Job Functions

  • Book all new, renewed and modified loans on the core processing system 
  • Setup of new and renewed loan files to ensure the loans are set up properly on the loan servicing system nCino
  • Add and maintain collateral and tickler information such as UCC re-fillings and amendments, insurance coverage, life insurance questionnaires, etc. 
  • Perform loan maintenances as requested
  • Review loan payments to verify accurate posting
  • Maintain annual SBA requirements on all portfolio loans 
  • Process daily work flow to assure quality, timeliness and compliance with bank, SBA, regulatory and investor guidelines. This includes loan boarding, third party payments, loan disbursements and payoff demands 
  • Provide efficient production of the loan servicing system by performing data entry, data maintenance and data updates
  • Line of credit advances
  • Callback of daily work and of new loans and monetary entries
  • Review/correct morning balance/loan activity reports
  • Answer questions for internal and external customers about their loans, processes and documentation
  • Customer correspondence; problem solving with clients
  • All other duties as assigned by the SBA Loan Servicing Supervisor or senior management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial loans, participation loans and/or SBA loan processing and servicing
  • Working knowledge of excel, Word, Outlook, Windows and Scanning
  • Ability to manage competing demands and adapt to changing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is in regular communication, is required to use various tools or objects, and have the mobility to move about the office. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is full-time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Overtime may be necessary as job duties demand.
