About This Opportunity

We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator, with expertise in clinical trial management and research coordination, to join the dedicated research team at UQ’s Queensland Aphasia Research Centre (QARC). QARC is committed to optimising the lives of people living with aphasia through research, service, and partnerships and is the first centre of its kind in Australia. If you are passionate about making a real difference and creating lasting, meaningful impact to the lives of people in our community, this is your chance!

In this role, you will support the coordination and operational management of the Medical Research Future Fund project: “Overcoming Systemic Barriers in Aphasia Care with the Aphasia Treatment Translation Network (ATTAIN).” This five-year initiative aims to improve post-stroke aphasia care through evidence translation and collaborative implementation across health services.

You will assist in coordinating multi-centre investigator-initiated studies from feasibility through to initiation and contribute to the day-to-day running of the research project. The role involves liaising with investigators, clinical trial coordinators, and other stakeholders to ensure effective trial operations and compliance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Clinical Research Management: Prepare project documentation (e.g. ethics and governance submissions, study protocols, case report forms and presentations), maintain trial databases, monitor study progress and ensure compliance.

  • Clinical Trial Supervision: Prepare regulatory documentation, coordinate with stakeholders, manage participant recruitment and data collection, and ensure patient safety.

  • Leadership & Team Support: Supervise and mentor junior research staff, foster a positive team culture and manage project budgets as required.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology or a related health discipline, with at least 4 years’ subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training.

  • Demonstrated experience in the coordination and conduct of clinical trials in accordance with GCP and ethical standards.

  • Knowledge of regulatory and ethical requirements for clinical trials in Australia.

  • Strong understanding of clinical rehabilitation, with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with speech pathologists and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication for people with aphasia and other communication challenges.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and research databases.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft and edit research protocols and reports.

  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.

Please note, you must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment. The successful candidate will also be required complete mandatory immunisations.
