POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Associate Project Manager will work closely with the Project Manager to assist in the planning, execution, and closing of YMCA projects. These projects may include program development, facility improvements, information technology projects, membership initiatives, community outreach efforts and other projects. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Uphold the mission of the YMCA, and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
- Assist in the development and management of project plans, including timelines, resources, budgets, and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure that all project tasks are completed on time and within scope.
- Maintain project documentation, including meeting notes, schedules, reports, and budgets.
- Monitor and report project progress to Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Identify and manage potential project risks and issues, escalating them when necessary.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between project team members, YMCA staff, and external partners.
- Direct involvement and completion of project tasks and deliverables.
- Ensure that projects align with the YMCA’s mission and strategic goals.
- Support post-project reviews and assist in capturing lessons learned for future improvement.
- Ensure that leadership is regularly informed of all member and staff issues.
- Occasional travel to YMCA locations in the greater Louisville area is required.
- Handle all other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, computer science, business, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience
- Excellent time management, organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficiency in project management software
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience dealing with confidential information to maintain the highest degree of privacy.
- Proven ability to prioritize workload and take direction from multiple sources.
- Showcases consistently professional interpersonal skills, public relations, and communication skills via phone and in writing and have sound and independent judgment, plus proven ability to make data informed decisions.
- Possesses the ability to communicate effectively with all types of people including members, staff, direct reports, volunteers, and supervisors.
- Proven ability to handle issues professionally with a cooperative spirit committed to character development by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff, lay leaders, YMCA members, program participants and the general public.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years of experience in project management or project coordination
- Experience with nonprofit or community organizations is a plus
- PMP or CAPM certification
- Microsoft Office Apps, SharePoint, Teams experience
