Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center (CBHC), a company of Porch Light Health, is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant to provide support for our outpatient clinics in Denver & Lakewood. We are looking for candidates who are willing to work in a fast paced medical environment. This position provides support to staff who provide drug and alcohol assessment, psycho-social, and pharmacological treatment to adult substance abuse clients. This is a full-time, Medical Assistant and administrative position that supports new/existing patient check-ins, eligibility/payment collection, schedules/confirms appointments, collects specimens and lab draws, as well as other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities and Duties:
As a Phlebotomist and or Medical Assistant at CBHC, you will be expected to perform a combination of clinical and administrative tasks to support both our medical team and our patients. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Booking and Rescheduling Appointments:
Coordinate with patients to schedule and reschedule appointments efficiently.
Managing Prior Authorizations:
Submit and track insurance prior authorizations to ensure timely treatment for patients.
Patient Monitoring and Communication:
Take and record patient vitals, perform injections and blood draws, and provide ongoing communication with patients regarding their treatment.
Insurance Liaison:
Act as the primary point of contact for insurance-related questions and issues, ensuring proper coverage for patient care.
Provider Communication:
Maintain respectful and professional communication with providers and other medical staff.
Clinic Administration:
Assist with administrative tasks such as managing clinic data, filing paperwork, maintaining patient records, preparing charts, lab draws, and ensuring the clinic's smooth operation. Accurately collect, track and record patient fee payments.
Clinic Operations:
Assist in opening and closing the clinic, ensuring that all tasks, such as facility cleaning and paperwork management, are completed efficiently.
Patient Education, Support and Advocacy:
Guide patients through paperwork, contracts, and medical protocols related to addiction treatment. Assist and share resources to patients in areas such as recovery planning, relapse prevention, housing needs, and education/employment.
Peer Support Services:
Support client engagement into local evidence-based treatment for people experiencing substance misuse and aid in recovery support services as a clinic support team. Partner with the CBHC treatment team to support other treatment providers, hospital Emergency Departments, harm reduction organizations, support services, and law enforcement to educate each about the availability of treatment and ensure effective linkage to services from the community.
Lab Testing:
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection following established protocols
Prepare and label specimens for laboratory testing.
Perform other duties as required or assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
○ Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or other relevant certification is also acceptable.
Phlebotomy Experience:
○ 1 year of phlebotomy experience with lab draws (Capillary Blood Collecting) and injections is required
Proficiency in Microsoft & Google Suites:
○ Comfortable using Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs, Sheets, and other Google applications.
Experience with EMR Systems:
○ Previous experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is preferred (at least 1 year).
Ability to Navigate Multiple Patient Medical Record Platforms:
○ Capable of learning and adapting to various patient management systems.
Strong Communication Skills:
○ Able to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, providers, and coworkers in a professional manner.
Time Management Skills:
○ Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a busy clinic setting.
Dependability and Reliability:
○ Must be reliable, punctual, and willing to travel to multiple rural locations as needed.
Transportation:
○ Reliable transportation is required
Job Requirements:
Education:
○ High school diploma or equivalent.
○ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or equivalent certification.
Experience:
○ At least 1 year of experience with EMR systems is preferred.
○ At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience required
○ Previous experience in a medical or clinical setting, particularly methadone/addiction medicine, is a plus.
Work Setting:
○ In-person at the clinic.
Work Hours:
○ 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week. M-F
