About the Role
This is a hands-on technical role ideal for someone at the start of their engineering career. You will gain experience working on high-fidelity simulators used for military aircrew training. The role offers excellent development opportunities and the chance to work as part of a skilled engineering team.
As a Junior Simulation Technician, you will support the engineering team in maintaining, testing, and preparing simulators and associated training systems. You will receive on-the-job training and development to grow your skills in flight simulation technology.
You’ll be expected to:
- Work within a team environment and follow technical guidance.
- Learn to understand simulator systems and how they operate.
- Maintain a clean and professional workspace.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with both colleagues and users of the simulators.
- Support weekend and occasional shift work if required (with notice).
- Be willing to undertake further technical training.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting maintenance and readiness of flight simulators and training equipment.
- Assisting in fault-finding, inspection, testing, and basic repair of simulator hardware and sub-systems.
- Helping to prepare simulators and training devices for daily use.
- Working alongside experienced engineers to understand and learn simulator systems including computer networks, control systems, and visual displays.
- Carrying out routine checks and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and following technical instructions.
- Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures and contributing to a safe working environment.
- Learning to use maintenance tools, test equipment, and diagnostic software.
- Taking part in continuous improvement activities and ongoing training.
- Supporting other tasks reasonably expected by the Simulator Site Manager.
