About the Department

Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Services, the Part-Time Case Manager – Special Populations, Behavioral Services will create a seamless continuum of services to support student success. The Part-Time Case Manager will provide triage and referral services for behavioral health and basic needs for students who are part of supportive cohort programs and military and veteran-affiliated students on campus.

This is a part-time, grant-funded position from 9/1/2025 - 5/31/2026.

Position Duties

  1. Conducts individualized, solution-focused, non-clinical assessments and triage for currently enrolled RCSJ students who are military and veteran-affiliated students and are part of supportive cohort programs, and provides referrals for on- and off-campus resources (i.e., academic support services, social services, community food pantries, mental health care, transportation, shelter, etc.)
  1. Collaborates with Behavioral Services staff on food pantry hours, appointments, and inventory
  2. Collaborates with Director and staff from Acenda Integrated Health to ensure linkage to the appropriate level of care based on discharge planning
  3. Refers students to community health insurance navigators and links to in-network mental health providers
  1. Support activities on- and off-campus that may be scheduled during nights and weekends
  2. Maintains confidential files of student information, as needed
  3. Maintains records to track student usage of Behavioral Services resources and campus food pantries
  4. Performs other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related social service field and/or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or a related social service field preferred.
  • Case management skills and experience with people in situational crises, higher education experience preferred.
  • Understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality consistent with applicable federal and state laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of social service resources within Gloucester/Cumberland Counties and the surrounding areas
  • Ability to network and collaborate with community resources and advocate for student needs
  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Commitment to and knowledge of a comprehensive community college philosophy and a student-centered learning environment
  • Ability to travel between multiple campus locations and state to attend meetings, utilizing personal vehicle
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with variable hours, including both evenings and weekends, which may include some travel to meet department and College needs.
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.
