PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Logistics Coordinator works with Purchasing, Sales and the Warehouse teams to ensure the most cost effective way of using Formulated Solution’s transportation and warehouse shipping resources.  

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Work with Purchasing, Customer Service and Warehouse to ensure most cost effect way of using Formulated Solution’s transportation and warehouse shipping resources. 

    Obtains, assesses and negotiates small package, LTL /TL, CL/LCL freight quotes via ocean, land and air as required to meet customer and internal production demands

    Maintains inbound due to dock reporting. Schedules inbound and outbound shipments. Manages timing of deliveries, including but not limited to, daily tracking and tracing of shipments in transit from the vendor to FS warehouse door.

    Prepares necessary shipping documents for customer outbound shipments. 

    Manages and prepares shipments to contracted outside manufacturing facilities.

    Evaluates and reports performance, quality and pricing of freight vendors. Compiles and reports monthly, quarterly and annually. 

    Prepares and pursues freight claims from recognition of issue to receipt of payment.

    Development and maintenance of Formulated Solutions’ vendor shipping and routing guide. Maintains and updates shipping procedures and customer routing guides and instructions.

    Maintains logistic field in Navision as dictated by Purchasing Manager.

    Participates in development and maintains the ASN (Advance shipping notice) information and related materials

    Maintains all import, broker, bonding and customs documentations, ensuring compliance with State, Federal and International laws and regulations. Makes recommendations to department heads to ensure compliance and fiscal sense.

    Maintains hazmat training and advises management of any changes in DOT regulations.

    Completion of other duties as dictated by management

QUALIFICATION:

A.    Required 

    Knowledge of DOT and international shipping regulations and terminology.

    Understanding of import documentation and ancillary charges.

    At least 2 years previous experience in negotiating tariffs and terms with transportation vendors.

    A clear ability to multi-task in a growth environment. Team player.

    Demonstrated ability to use MS Office products for data reporting.

    B.    Preferred Additional

    Experience with creating/issuing purchase orders is a plus.

    Experience with Navision.

COMPUTER/REQUIRED SKILLS:

    The ideal candidate will have a background in logistics and working with freight forwarders.

    Extensive use of Microsoft Office products.

    Strong team player, self-starter, positive attitude and high integrity.

    Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.

    Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) for effective vendor & internal staff communication.

    Attention to detail, and ability to drive tasks to closure efficiently with error-free results.

B.      Education and/or Training

    High School Diploma or equivalent certification required.

    Associate’s degree or coursework in business or purchasing  preferred.
