Title: Media Relations Assistant
Status: Full-Time

Reports To: Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, Director of Athletics
Purpose: To uphold the qualities, principles, and standards of Wagner College, the Northeast Conference, and NCAA.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Provide information (stories, stats, etc.) of assigned sports to the community & media
- Manage media relations for assigned varsity sports
- Reach out to local, regional, and national media outlets with Wagner stories
- Write and distribute press releases
- Manage Athletics Website – As assigned by sport
- Game Programs and Notes
- Inclusion of any and all sport-specific game articles, features, statistics, photos, and coach/player bios
- Assist in training and supervising graduate assistants and interns in marketing office
- Assist with game-day operations for sports information department
Brief Overall Description:
Responsibilities will include but not limited to: handling of sports media relations for assigned varsity intercollegiate sports, maintain and provide supervision for college’s Athletics Website, produce press releases, pitch athletics stories to local and regional media, possibly hometown features for student-athletes, compiling and distributing stats for individuals, coaching staff members and teams and managing press areas for home games. This position requires afternoon, night, weekend hours combined with business hours.

Qualifications:
Work Experience: 1-3 years experience in a related field
Education: Undergraduate Degree Required / Masters Degree Preferred

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office / Email & Internet proficient
Communication/Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with alumni, colleagues, and student athletes of diverse backgrounds.

Working Conditions: Positive Office environment with interaction between administration, student-athletes, coaches and alumni.
Travel: As needed per sport requirements
Hours: Successful candidate must be able to work select weekends as necessary based on their official job duties
This position requires an individual of high moral character. In accordance with the NCAA Bylaw 11.1, any athletic department employee who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures. This may include suspension with out pay, or termination if the employee is found to be involved in deliberate and serious violations of NCAA regulations.
