Purpose: As a critical member of the HR team, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) partners with managers to cultivate a positive associate experience while aligning HR objectives with business goals. The HRBP advises and coaches business unit managers on employee discipline, employee relations, organizational/talent planning, HR policy and regulatory compliance. The HR Business Partner proactively coordinates and supports the execution of HR programs and services.  The HR Business Partner acts as an advocate and ombudsman for employee issues and complaints and helps lead the Human Capital strategy of Five Star Bank.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Partners with business unit managers to develop people strategies that meet with business unit needs and align with organization wide talent and business objectives.
  • Leverages knowledge and understanding of business unit, experience, data, and organizational agility to guide, influence and support decision making.
  • Guides the delivery and application of HR services, tools, and policies in the areas of workforce planning, talent / organizational development and performance, recruiting, succession planning, compensation, staffing, and change management to engage with business units effectively and ensure their appropriate use across the organization. Assists in the development of job descriptions for new and existing positions.
  • Works closely with internal HR colleagues to ensure that tools and policies are aligned, enhance employee engagement, and ultimately improve performance.
  • Help to execute and develop the Annual Performance Reviews process, Goals setting, TRAs (9 Box), for the company
  • Partners with internal and external resources to ensure talent management and employee engagement efforts support a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.
  • Resolves complex employee relations issues and works with business unit management to address employee complaints.
  • Coaches and develops the capability of managers to anticipate, mitigate and appropriately respond to organizational issues.
  • Leads, coordinates and/or actively participates in relevant projects.
  • Understands and anticipates the need for change, diagnoses the underlying issues and builds the case for change with stakeholders. Builds frameworks to plan and manage the continuous process of change including dependencies, risk, potential scenarios, and options to mitigate.
  • Is an ambassador for the Five Star Experience and represents HR internally and externally (as appropriate)
  • Demonstrate the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience in every interaction with internal and external customers, associates, and stakeholders.   Incorporate the high-performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example, and service in every facet of work.

 

Job Related Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field 
  • Prior Experience: 4+ years of experience as HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, employee relations or similar role

Preferred:

  • Education: Master’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field
  • Prior Experience: 4+ years of experience as HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, employee relations or similar role; banking or financial services experience preferred
  • Licenses or Accreditation: SHRM-CP or SPHR

 

Competencies:

  • Comprehensive knowledge human resources principles and practices including talent acquisition, talent management, performance management, cultural transformation, employee engagement, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local employment related laws (EEO, ADAA, FLSA, Wage & Hour, etc.)
  • Strategy and Analysis Skills: Able to translate business strategies/priorities/goals into people strategies/priorities/goals
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, critical thinking, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent people management and consultative skills. Able to deal with ambiguity
  • Excellent conflict management, consulting, client management and business literacy skills
  • Capacity to navigate ambiguity and manage competing and conflicting priorities
  • Effectively builds and maintains positive working relationships with all levels of employees.
  • The ability to follow up and follow through in a timely manner.
  • Ability to organize multiple activities, which require close attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals. Also need to be a “people person” with the ability to track down the facts on any situation.
  • Technically proficient in MS Office Suite – including Excel and PowerPoint

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to regularly sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to regularly stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to lift 10 lbs.
