Job Title: Perioperative/Post Operative Registered Nurse (Endoscopy Unit)
Reports To: Nurse Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-exempt
Position is full-time with benefits and will be scheduled 40 hours per week
Summary: The RN is responsible for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality care in the pre-procedural setting and post-procedural setting for all patient populations served.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Explains procedures and treatments to patient before and after endoscopic procedures to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
· Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
· Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
· Maintains awareness of the clinical environment and adheres to all infection control policies in accordance with infection control standards.
· Adheres to best-practices and standards of care related to patient care.
· Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
· Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
· Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
· Communicates the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care
· Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes
· Maintains required competencies
· Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
· Documents all patient care provided in patient records in accordance with legal and medical standards.
· Follow and comply with all safety policies.
· Additional duties as assigned within the scope of responsibility.

Education/ and or Experience:
· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
· One to three years related experience and/or training
· Maintains knowledge, skills and abilities through ongoing education.
· Completes all mandatory reviews/educational required and assigned.
· Participates in performance improvement activities.
· Is actively committed to meeting / exceeding employee expectations / satisfaction in the performance of job functions.
· Retains all accreditations, licensures and designations in good standing.
· Maintains compliance with all laws and applicable regulatory requirements. Acts promptly to comply with required changes.
Specialized Knowledge Required – Including any required certificates, licenses, and registrations
· Current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or compact state
· BLS required
· ACLS required within 6 months of hire
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Great attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands
· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
