This position is responsible for . . . Programs and monitors computer and peripheral equipment, alarm receiving hardware for the purpose of maintaining life safety communications B. MAJOR JOB DUTIES Specify major duties performed and the approximate percentage of time spent on each. Do not list occasional duties that consume less than 5% of the job. The total should equal 100%. 1) Programs and monitors computer and peripheral equipment such servers, alarm receivers and switching hardware that conprise the network of equipement for maintaining life satety alarm communications

2) Provide Level 1 technical support that may include, telco, server, signaling, and/or mainframe applications, as well as technical advice, guidance, and informal training on hardware and software for the continued successful transmission of life safety alarm communication services

3) Troubleshoot and restore routine technical services and equipment by analyzing, identifying, and diagnosing faults and symptoms using established processes and procedures, but may require real time anyalsis and change to programming parameters that fall outside of established processes

4) Maintains lists, records, procedures, templates, etc. pertaining to alarm signal systems or processes

5) Perform system maintenance to alarm signal receivers and servers to ensure availabilty and uptime to support current and upcoming customer base at a 99.999% performance level. C. MAJOR CHALLENGES/PROBLEMS Describe the nature and variety of typical and complex problems the employee faces in this position.

1) Typical Challenges/Problems: Successful delivery of alarm messages is dependant on a variety of other internal and external communication paths and configurations. This requires the ability to know and understand the potitential breaking points and be able to work for resolution by liasoning with other departments and outside vendors. This position also requires a "ON-CALL" after hours support rotation scheduled between fellow department members.
