About the Department

The City of Lake Oswego is searching for customer service-oriented individuals to help staff the Lake Oswego Indoor Tennis Center. On-Call Tennis Center Attendants are responsible for day-to-day duties of answering phones, greeting guests, activity registration, and clerical tasks. This is an on-call position with a variable schedule of less than 20 hours per week.

Position Duties

  1. Open and close office; oversee building security while on duty.
  2. Primary reception for Tennis Center guests and phone inquiries.
  3. Provide information about court reservations, classes, and the facility as requested.
  4. Check for openings and register players for tennis classes and activities, and make court reservations via online system.
  5. Book court reservations as requested.
  6. Communicate with other staff regarding questions and issues that arise.
  7. Ensure guests are aware of and abide by all tennis center rules and policies.
  8. Administrative support to instructors and Tennis Coordinator. 
  9. Perform cash, check, and credit card handling with 100% accuracy.
  10. Update voice mail system as necessary; check and respond to messages.
  11. Light custodial tasks as needed.
  12. Some evening shifts require an alcohol serving permit. Minimum age for these shifts is 21. Obtaining the permit will be a priority for individuals working these shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

Priority consideration is given to applicants with: 

  • Front desk and experience with a participant registration software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, and in email.
  • Cash management experience.
  • Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public, handle stressful situations and work cooperatively with other employees.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make independent, safe, and professional decisions
