Summary of Position
The Intake and Eligibility Specialist identifies and evaluates client needs to determine for which program(s) an individual may qualify. They review client paperwork and collect supporting documentation as required to document and determine eligibility. The Intake and Eligibility Specialists participates in outreach and recruitment events as a Goodwill representative to attract suitable clients.
Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
- Screen applicants in-person, by phone or online using a web-based portal. Provide accurate and thorough intake based on individual career or educational goals.
- Effectively communicate programs and services provided at Goodwill Central Texas as well as connect applicants to community resources.
- Efficiently and accurately enter all required client information into database.
- Intervene in crisis situations, developing applicable interventions that are both efficient and ethical and follow-up plans to thoroughly address immediate and future needs while maintaining safety.
- Complete eligibility documentation and refer eligible clients to respective program(s) internally and externally.
- Assist clients in the community computer lab with various online tasks to support client goals and job readiness needs.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of current grants, funding, programs and enrollment needs.
- Collaborate on achieving monthly, quarterly and yearly metrics and departmental goals.
- Complete special projects and assignments as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- BA or BS degree in Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, Counseling, Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration, Education, or other related field.
- Excellent critical thinking and client service skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills, including interviewing skills.
- Must possess understanding of marginalization and how it impacts those that Goodwill serves and employs.
- Exhibit respect for diversity of thought and have experience to advance it in teams/organizations.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Windows OS, electronic data entry, etc.
- Texas Driver’s License, liability insurance, vehicle in good working condition and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
- Ability to cope with and tolerate moderate levels of stress is also a necessity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
