Description

Position Summary

The Marketing & Development Specialist plays a critical role in advancing reStart Inc.’s visibility, deepening donor engagement, and strengthening community relationships. As a key member of the Development team, this position supports the Chief Development Officer and collaborates with the CEO and Grants & Philanthropy Manager to ensure organizational goals are met. The Specialist will lead and contribute to marketing and communications initiatives, event planning, donor stewardship, and campaign execution, all while upholding the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed engagement.

This role requires creativity, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, with a focus on maintaining brand consistency, maximizing impact, and responding to emerging opportunities in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors.

 

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop, adapt, and execute marketing campaigns that increase brand awareness, donor engagement, and program visibility.
  • Create high-quality marketing materials, newsletters, and digital content that reflect reStart’s mission, values, and participant-centered approach.
  • Coordinate consistent messaging across all platforms, including social media, website, print, and media outreach.
  • Support public relations efforts, including press releases, award submissions, community announcements, and speaking engagements.
  • Monitor and analyze market and nonprofit trends to keep strategies relevant and competitive.
  • Co-create and Implement an annual communications and marketing plan.

Development & Fundraising Support

  • Collaborate with leadership to execute annual development strategies, including fundraising campaigns and special initiatives.
  • Assist with donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgment letters, personalized communications, and impact reporting.
  • Contribute to lead-generation and donor acquisition through networking, events, media outreach, and community engagement.
  • Work closely with the Development Coordinator to ensure cohesion in fundraising and communication efforts throughout the year.

Event Coordination & Community Engagement

  • Plan, promote, and execute organizational events, including fundraising galas, community outreach programs, and team member engagement activities.
  • Engage with participants, donors, volunteers, and community partners to foster strong, trust-based relationships.
  • Ensure events reflect reStart’s values of inclusivity, accessibility, and community impact.

Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Measure and report on the performance of marketing campaigns and development activities against established goals that align with the strategic agenda
  • Utilize data and feedback to improve outreach, engagement, and campaign outcomes.
  • Participate in professional development to strengthen skills in nonprofit communications, fundraising, and donor relations.

Qualifications


 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience in marketing, communications, development, or related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute campaigns and promotions that achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Experience in both independent work and collaborative team environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines, budgets, and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media platforms.
  • Creative, adaptable, and responsive to emerging trends in nonprofit marketing and philanthropy.
