Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe, environmentally compliant, CHP operation and maintenance by monitoring, inspecting and controlling plant parameters, completing plant routines and providing appropriate first line maintenance.
- When operations are outside of prescribed limits ensure corrective actions are taken. Where there are Process Safety impacts, immediately alert the Site Management Team and record appropriately.
- Provide start up and shutdown services in respect of plant systems and participate in required emergencies.
- Shutdowns and actions.
- Identify and immediately report plant defects, observations and anomalies that have, or have the potential to affect the safety of the process or which are noted to be abnormal to usual operations
- Apply safe systems of work requirements, including Putting People to Work, Authorisation to Work, and px safety systems. As appropriate, complete assigned safety role duties.
- Complete required documentation and update appropriate systems in relation to plant operational and maintenance activities, diagnosis and reporting requirements and controls.
- Complete process analysis, interpreting plant and DCS information, updating required logs and documents.
- Produce and review accurate, appropriate method statements, risk assessments & other required safety documentation, to prepare work packs.
- Assist plant engineers and others on plant projects and outage preparation, implementation and evaluation.
- Take a lead role in the supervision & control of assigned contract staff.
- Develop and improve procedures & policies covering site operational and maintenance activities.
- Provide relevant, best practice advice and guidance to other shift members and cross-functional colleagues.
- Complete required training to achieve, retain and maintain competence and where qualified to do so, be involved in additional activities including HV SAP and trip testing.
- Positively present the role of Shift Operations & Maintenance Technician and the Operations Department to the rest of the Stallingborough CHP site, the px business, its contractors and customers.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- NVQ 3 or equivalent operations experience.
- Contributing to continuous process /production/ operational environments.
- Fault diagnosis and problem solving.
- Monitoring, inspecting & controlling plant parameters.
- First line maintenance.
- Following procedures, systems & processes.
- Working to targets as part of a team.
- Safe System of Work processes & procedures: permit to work, Incident control, Risk assessments method statements.
- Understanding & application of SHE requirements at work.
- Microsoft Office: word & excel.
- Confident to make appropriate decisions, without management consultation
- Completed the required company induction into this role.
