The Central Virginia Stormwater Maintenance Estimator/Inspector plays a key role in driving the growth and success of the company’s Maintenance Division. This position blends technical expertise with relationship-building and sales acumen. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a deep understanding of stormwater systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage the entire sales process—from identifying opportunities to closing deals and ensuring seamless project execution.The Estimator/Inspector will cultivate and strengthen client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and ensure that all work meets the company’s high standards for quality and compliance. This role requires both field and office work, with responsibilities that span inspections, estimating, client engagement, and operational coordination.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Client Relationships

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Engage clients through on-site meetings, lunches, calls, trade shows, networking events, and trade association participation to increase market share.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to expand services with existing customers and develop new accounts.
  • Represent the company professionally in all client interactions, maintaining a reputation for reliability, integrity, and quality.

Sales & Estimating

  • Manage the sales process from lead generation to deal closure.
  • Review internal and external leads, follow up promptly, and track progress.
  • Conduct detailed site inspections of stormwater facilities to assess conditions and determine maintenance needs.
  • Prepare accurate, competitive, and timely estimates based on inspection findings.
  • Clearly communicate proposed solutions, pricing, and timelines to clients.
  • Negotiate and close sales while maintaining profitability goals.

Technical Expertise

  • Maintain a working knowledge of stormwater systems, including their construction, inspection, and maintenance requirements.
  • Stay informed of relevant regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices.
  • Translate technical findings into clear recommendations for clients.
  • Support the Operations team by providing thorough, accurate project details and documentation.

Project Coordination

  • Use company software and resources to pass critical information from inspection and estimating to operations.
  • Ensure accurate scope of work, timelines, and expectations are clearly communicated for efficient project execution.
  • Track projects through the sales cycle, ensuring follow-up and client satisfaction after work is completed.

Market Awareness & Strategic Input

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Provide insight to leadership to help set sales targets, budgets, and strategic goals for the Maintenance Division.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve pricing strategies and maximize service value.

QualificationsRequired:

  • Proven sales experience with measurable results, preferably in construction, stormwater maintenance, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of stormwater systems and maintenance requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business/project management software.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.


Requirements

Preferred:

  • Experience in stormwater maintenance, civil construction, or environmental services.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal stormwater regulations.
  • Background in estimating, project management, or inspection work.
