Position Summary
Join our dynamic team at Veneklasen Construction as Human Resources Generalist. This role plays a critical part in supporting the organization by managing day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR policy implementation. This position serves as a key point of contact for employees and collaborates with leadership to foster a positive and productive work environment. The HR Generalist ensures HR programs and initiatives align with company goals and comply with applicable laws and regulations, contributing to the organization's overall success.

Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage recruiting efforts for hourly employees and interns, including job postings, candidate screening, and interviews.
- Oversee internship programs, coordinate career fairs, and foster relationships with educational institutions.
- Support salaried employee recruiting including, job postings, candidate screening and interviewing.
- Complete pre-employment tasks including drug screenings, background checks, and other necessary documentation.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, including HRIS updates, benefits enrollment, and orientation sessions.
- Assist in the administration of employee benefits, including enrollments, terminations, and life event changes.
- Conduct monthly benefits audits and resolve benefits-related inquiries or issues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including ACA reporting and year-end W2 processes.
- Oversee and update HR systems and databases, troubleshoot technical issues as they arise, and introduce new processes to enhance efficiency and employee engagement.
- Process verifications of employment and employee reference checks.
- Manage employee timesheets, administer payroll, and handle payroll-related adjustments and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements, including tracking employee hours, verifying appropriate wage rates, maintaining accurate records, and reporting obligations.
- Lead year-end processes for bonuses and merit increases.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees’ HR-related questions and concerns, ensuring timely resolution.
- Assist with the employee exit process, including conducting exit interviews and managing offboarding tasks.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, wellness programs, and staff events.
- Maintain confidential employee records and ensure HR database accuracy.
- Track and manage employee certifications and DOT driver files to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Manage temporary labor files and ensure compliance with company and legal requirements.
- Assist in developing and facilitating employee training programs.
- Support the performance appraisal process, including documentation and follow-up on action plans.
- Prepare HR-related reports and metrics, such as turnover rates, headcount data, and other key performance indicators.
- Partner with the HR Manager to communicate company policies and procedures effectively.
- Collaborate with leadership to address HR-related challenges and develop strategic improvement initiatives.
- Support other HR projects and initiatives as assigned.

Requirements
Education, Experience and Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or another related subject
- 1-3 years of HR-related experience
- Sensitivity to confidential information
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, laws, and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient with HRIS systems (Paylocity or similar)
